How Much Does a Breast MRI Cost?
Find Breast MRI clinics near you
A breast MRI is the most sensitive breast imaging study — used for high-risk screening alongside mammography, to evaluate a finding, or to check implants. The figures above combine one-side (unilateral) and both-sides (bilateral) studies, which is part of why the range is wide: a bilateral study is the bigger scan and typically costs more.
What moves the price of a breast MRI?
- One side or both. A bilateral breast MRI (standard for high-risk screening) is a larger study than a unilateral one, and is usually priced higher.
- Contrast. Most diagnostic breast MRIs use contrast — it's how suspicious tissue shows up. Implant-integrity checks can be done without it, and cost less.
- Where you go. As with every MRI, standalone imaging centers usually charge far less than hospitals for the identical study.
